Every year as spring approaches, Vancouver briefly becomes one of rugby’s global capitals as the HSBC SVNS Series arrives at BC Place. Celebrating its 10th year since joining the international circuit in 2016, the tournament — which ran March 7th and 8th — has grown into one of the city’s most anticipated sporting weekends, drawing devoted crowds and some of the game’s most celebrated teams, including New Zealand’s famed All Blacks Sevens men’s team and Black Ferns Sevens women’s team. This year, the Black Ferns Sevens defended their title by setting a four-year streak as reigning champions.
